Arrangement Art with Easter Candies
For my next art, I decided to go with the arrangement style and create something out of everyday objects. I naturally picked Easter candies because I had a large amount of them (and because I was hungry). I first took them all out and looked at the amount I had of each. I had 6 yellows, 6 purples, 10 blues, 10 greens, and 14 reds.
For my first artwork, I just decided to make a plain and simple egg out of smaller eggs, but it ended up shaping to more like a spearhead, I didn't end up using all of the candies on this arrangement due to not feeling the need to have them.
The next thing I tried to make was a decorative skull. I first made the mouth part out of red candies and put the blue candies inside in a teeth-like formation. Next I built the top part of the skull out of green candies and created the eyes out of yellow candies. Then I added a nose with two purple candies. I realized that I had 4 purple candies left and decided to put them on the outside of the skull to make it feel more like a decorated skull. |
For my first piece of artwork, I had to bring in an object to draw. I chose a maze-cube that I had gotten a few weeks before. I started by taking a picture of it with three sides showing and attempted a sketch of it.

I disliked my sketch after awhile and didn't even finish it. I realized that just drawing one side may be a little simpler than three, and that I should be drawing in pencil. I took another picture and sketched again. This time, I drew a grid beforehand so that the walls of the maze were accurately placed.
After I was done, I still felt that I was missing something, then I realized that the walls looked too fake since they were just a think pencil line. So for my final work, I drew a grid beforehand once again, but made the walls thicker. Once I was done with base sketch, I shaded it to make it look more 3-D.
After a lot of trial and error, I ended up really liking the final product of my artwork. It's not perfect, but I'm very glad I didn't jump to the final drawing right away as it would have looked more like my first drawing.

I decided that I wanted to draw something that I was a little more familiar with, so I chose an iconic character from one of my favorite games "Terraria". I started by sketching out major parts of the drawuing that I wanted to include, the slime itself and two people. One person would be facing the King slime with a sword, while the other is inside the slime. I wanted to focus mainly on drawing the slime and its surroundings, so I decided to draw the people as silhouettes in the final drawing.

I first drew a sketch of my final drawing then started coloring, I ended up with a lightly colored drawing by the time I finished. After I was done with it, I asked for feedback and I was told that it needed shading, so I colored the drawing more thouroughly to make it more believable. I was also told that I needed shadows for the two figures, so I drew them. While I was drawing the shadows, I realized that the shadow created by the slime and the elevated land wouldn't be the same level of darkness. The slime is supposed to be slightly transparent, so a shadow created by the slime would be lighter than a shadow created by the land.
